What Cantiras is
Cantiras is a language-learning platform where you can read and hear books in two languages to learn a new language. Books in the library are in the public domain. Translations and audio narration are generated by Cantiras.
Your account
You need an account to save reading progress or redeem a code. Keep your sign-in credentials to yourself. You're responsible for activity under your account.
Free preview and subscriptions
Every book has a free preview of roughly the first 30 sentences. To read the rest of any book, you need an active subscription.
Subscriptions are billed monthly at the price shown when you sign up. You can cancel anytime — your access continues until the end of the paid period. We don't pro-rate partial months.
Prices displayed to you at checkout include any applicable taxes. Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record; your contract of purchase is with them, and their terms also apply to the transaction.
Discount codes
Discount codes grant a set number of days of full access without a recurring charge. Each code has a set number of redemptions. You can only redeem a given code once per account. Codes have no cash value and can't be resold.
Refunds
If you're in the EU/EEA, you have a statutory 14-day right to withdraw from a distance contract; we honor it for any period you haven't actually consumed. If you just changed your mind after reading a few chapters, email hello@cantiras.com and we'll talk.
Acceptable use
Please don't:
- share your account credentials or resell your subscription access.
- scrape, re-host, or redistribute the audio, translations, or illustrations we generate.
- attempt to bypass the preview limit or probe the API beyond its documented endpoints.
If you do any of the above, we may suspend or terminate your account without a refund for the unused portion.
Content and ownership
The book texts themselves are public domain; you can do anything with them you could do with a library copy of the original work. Our translations, narration, illustrations, and the site itself are ours — we license them to you for personal use while you have an account, not for redistribution.
Service provided as-is
We try to make Cantiras good, but we provide it "as is." We don't guarantee uninterrupted availability, perfect translations, or that you'll reach a particular level in the language you're learning. To the extent allowed by law, our total liability for anything related to this service is limited to what you've paid us in the previous 12 months.
Changes and termination
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we'll email you first. You can stop using the service and cancel anytime. We can terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Disputes will be handled by the courts of Bergen, Norway, unless mandatory consumer law in your country says otherwise.
